Former ABC & ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Exec Duncan Gray Scores BBC Beauty Order
Former ABC exec and Jimmy Kimmel Live! executive producer Duncan Gray has scored his first BBC commission through his fledgling production company Twenty Six 03 Entertainment.
The Cineflix-backed firm is making Beauty Blowout for BBC Three, the online network operated by the British public broadcaster. The show is set in a beauty salon in Liverpool, where experts and stylists transform clients for an extra special event. The first run will follow people ahead of Ladies Day at the Grand National in Aintree, one of Britain’s biggest horse racing events and a major social event. It will look at everything from botox and fillers to non-surgical butt lifts and breast enhancements.
I hear it is one of a number of new shows on the docket for Gray, who previously worked on shows including Survivor (CBS), Britain’s Got Talent (ITV), Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV) and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC). Twenty Six 03 Entertainment previously produced Sky One music competition Bring The Noise.
Gray said: “There has been a huge change in the UK beauty industry recently, with people now able to walk into a salon and use new procedures to get themselves transformed – from top to bottom – for a big night out or special occasion. But on Beauty Blowout, makeovers are only the beginning as we hear why clients want a body treatment, watch what’s being done in the salon and then follow them out wherever they’re headed to celebrate their new look.”
The show is produced by Kerry Flanagan, executive produced by Antonia Hurford-Jones and Gray and was ordered by Rachel Ashdown, BBC Commissioning Editor, Entertainment. Ashdown added, “Beauty Blowout is peppered with great characters and intriguing stories both humorous and heartfelt.”
